Hello readers, We just started a new series today titled common animal misconceptions. This series is being created with the intention of clearing the air on some animal misconception in Nigeria. So today, we will be starting off with guppies which are being refer to as tadpoles. Have you ever taking walk beside a drainage in Lagos and you noticed fish-like creatures swimming in those dirty gutter water, am sure your answer is a solid YES. Those creatures you actually see swim in there are NOT TADPOLES they are actually guppies (Poecilia reticulata) also known as millionfish and rainbow fish,[2]which is one of the world's most widely distributed tropical fish, and one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species. Furthermore the animal whose name is being used for the guppy is known as a tadpole. But sadly most of us don't know what a tadpole look like but no worries,here is what a tadpole looks like worries,here is what a tadpole looks like. (photos above).

Black and yellow mud dauber is a common name for the sphecid wasp species Sceliphron caementarium . There are some 30 other species of Sceliphron that occur throughout the world, though in appearance and habits they are quite similar to S. caementarium .The Latin species name caementarius means mason or builder of walls. At number three "The Rock Fire finch". This particular Bird is a real beauty. It is a species of estrildid finch found in northern Nigeria. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 29,000 km². The status of the species is evaluated as Least Concern. DESCRIPTION The Rock firefinch has a blue-grey bill, red back in the male and reddish brown back in the female and juvenile and broad primaries in both the adult and juvenile. LOCATION It is commonly found in bushy and rocky outcrops on the Jos Plateau and inselbergs to the north and east.
